Does Saint-Étienne have an environmental zone? Yes! Are you driving to the beautiful Saint-Étienne or planning to camp in the mountains or along the Loire or Furan? Be aware that environmental restrictions apply in and around Saint-Étienne due to the established environmental zones. An emissions sticker for France has been mandatory since January 31, 2022.
Permanently Established Emissions Zone Saint-Étienne (ZFE)
The area covers approximately 34 square kilometres and has been in effect since January 31, 2022. The environmental zone is bounded by several major roads and operates 24/7. An emissions sticker for France is required within the area between the RN88, the A72, and the RD201.
The traffic restrictions in the permanent environmental zone of Saint-Étienne will be implemented gradually. Initially, this applies only to light commercial vehicles and trucks. The following vehicles will be prohibited on these dates:
- since January 31, 2022: ban on vehicles without an emissions sticker for France
- January 1, 2025: ban on vehicles with emissions stickers for France in categories 5 and 4, and vehicles without a Crit'Air sticker
- January 1, 2027: ban on vehicles with French emissions stickers in categories 5, 4, and 3, and vehicles without a France vignette.
