About This Emission Zone

What You Need to Know Before You Leave

Does Reims have an emissions zone? Yes! Are you planning to drive or ride a motorcycle to Reims? Be aware that emissions restrictions are in place in and around Reims due to the established emissions zones. An emissions sticker for France is therefore mandatory!

Permanent Emissions Zone Reims (ZFE)

Since 1st September 2021, the Greater Reims urban community has implemented a Permanent emissions zone (ZFE). This emissions zone covers the city centre, bounded by Boulevard Louis Roederer, Boulevard Joffre, Boulevard Lundy, Boulevard de la Paix, Boulevard Victor Hugo, Boulevard Dieu Lumière, Quai du Pré aux Moines, Boulevard Paul Doumer, and Boulevard Maurice Noirot. The urban intersection on Jean Taittinger road (A344) also falls within the emissions zone of Reims. Please refer to the map for the exact location. The permanent emissions zone applies to cars, light commercial vehicles, trucks, buses, and coaches. However, two-wheelers, motorised three- and four-wheelers, motorcycles, mopeds, and agricultural tractors are exempt from these restrictions.

The traffic restrictions in Reims will be implemented gradually. Prior to each new ban on a specific type of vehicle, there will be an educational period. The following motor vehicles will be prohibited within the emissions zone of Reims on the specified dates:

  • 1st January 2022: ban on vehicles with emissions sticker France category 5
  • 1st January 2023: ban on emissions stickers France category 5 and 4 vehicles
  • 1st January 2029: ban on emissions sticker France category 5, 4, and 3 vehicles.
