Contrary to what you might expect, Dinslaken is not part of the larger Ruhr area emissions zone. This zone begins several kilometres south of Dinslaken, in the town of Walsum.

These exceptions are located at the edge of the zone and include some streets accessible from Karlstraße, as well as a business area on Otto-Brenner-Straße.
