What You Need to Know Before You Leave
Welcome to our comprehensive information page about the emissions sticker and environmental zone in Bottrop. Here you'll find everything you need to know about the implementation of the Bottrop environmental zone, the required emissions sticker, exceptions, parking options outside the zone, and other relevant information.
Introduction to the Emissions Zone Bottrop
Since 1st October 2008, an emissions sticker has been required for access to Bottrop and other cities in the Ruhr area. This measure aims to improve air quality by restricting vehicles with high emissions.
Map of the Emissions Zone Bottrop
On the map, we have indicated the Bottrop environmental zone in orange. This zone covers the entire Ruhr area and includes parts beyond the city limits of Bottrop. Almost all popular destinations such as the Indoor Ski Centre Alpincenter Bottrop, Tetraeder Landscape Park, Schloss Beck amusement park, Indoor Skydiving Bottrop, Eloria Erlebnisfabrik, and the city centre fall within the emissions zone, meaning most tourists will need a German emissions sticker. Only Movie Park Germany is just outside the zone, so you won't need an emissions sticker to visit there.

Exceptions to the Emissions Zone Bottrop
No emissions sticker is required on the motorways A2, A516, and A42. The requirement only applies once you leave the motorway within the Bottrop environmental zone. Since Movie Park Germany is just outside the zone, you do not specifically need a German emissions sticker to get there.
Parking Outside the Emissions Zone Bottrop
If you do not have an emissions sticker or your vehicle does not qualify, you can park outside the environmental zone. Recommended parking locations include Lidl on Teutoburger Straße and Golfpark Jacobi.
