Introduction of the Low emissions Zone in Aachen

Despite political debate, the environmental zone in Aachen was introduced on 1st February 2016. This zone aims to improve air quality by restricting access for high-emission vehicles.

The zone is largely bordered by the outer ring road (L260) of Aachen, with exceptions for certain roads such as Hubert-Wiener-Straße and part of Krefelder Straße. Exceptions to the Low Emissions Zone in Aachen

Certain roads, such as the A544 and specific parts of Krefelder Straße, are exceptions within the environmental zone. Additionally, motorways, including the A544, are not subject to the regulation. The ring road (L260) is also just outside the environmental zone of Aachen.

Parking Outside the Environmental Zone in Aachen

For vehicles without an emissions sticker, there are several Park and Ride (P+R) facilities available outside the environmental zone, such as P+R Tivoli, P+R Westfriedhof, P+R Waldfriedhof, and P+R Jülicher Straße. However, it's important to note that parking outside the zone is not always cheaper than obtaining an emissions sticker.
